Welding accessories are just a few of many tool which facilitate the. This includes, among others special helmets that protect the face and eyes of the welder, welding aprons, as well as oxygen, acetylene and LPG reducers.
WELDING FACE SHIELDS
Having a good welding face shield is a basic matter that will definitely affect the health and safety of the welder. There are mainly automatic and passive face protectors available on the market.
- Face shields have a very simple design in which the welder selects and installs a protective filter himself. The face shield contains tinted glass with an appropriately selected, constant tint level, which may cause a subjective impression of darkness after extinguishing the welding arc. It is a cheap solution and is best suited for MMA welding (covered) or with a migomat.
- Automatic (active) face shields are much more complicated devices. Their automation is controlled by optical and electromagnetic sensors. When the arc ignites, sensors are activated and send an image to the helmet’s LCD screen. It, in turn, sets itself in the appropriate position depending on the intensity of the arc. After the welding process is completed or the arc intensity is reduced, sensors located in the helmet brighten visibility through the screen.
REDUCERS
By definition, welding reducers used are pressure control valves that keep the outlet pressure constant, regardless of changes in higher inlet pressure, with a variable flow rate through the valve. Put simply, regulators are mainly used to reduce the pressure of gas flowing from oxygen, acetylene or LPG cylinders to operating pressure. They also maintain a constant pressure despite its drop in the gas cylinder.
The regulators are most often equipped with a special adjusting screw that enables quick and smooth adjustment of the output pressure. In addition, the regulators can have high and low pressure gauges, as well as a shut-off valve that allows you to stop the gas supply to the welding device without having to completely close the gas cylinder valve.
WELDING APRONS
A welding apron is one of the items of protective clothing that must be worn by the individual that is welding. Health and safety rules for welding are regulated in the ordinance of the Minister of Economy of April 27, 2000, issued pursuant to Art. 237 §2. A welding apron protects welders against the negative effects of thermal radiation and shields from hot metal particles formed during the welding process. The welding apron is usually made of full grain cowhide of varying thickness (usually 2 mm). It is held with a neck harness and fastened at the back with a belt buckle. Aprons protects welders from harmful effects of minimal risk factors and from mechanical factors which effects can be superficial.
